My Shoedrobe - is 70 pairs too many?

Today I was going through my feed on Bloglovin and I came across a post by Blogger Jamie-lee Burns about her shoe wardrobe of about 20 or so pairs of shoes and how she thought that was too many... it prompted me to write this post, so here it goes.


Like many females out there I have a love for shopping and for me my soft spot is shoe shopping. Today I decided to get out all my shoes and count them up, the total, a huge 70 pairs of shoes. Just to make it clear I have collected these shoes over the years, the oldest pairs in my collection being some flats I bought in a market in Paris in 2008, the newest being some Steeve Madden heels I got at the DFO yesterday for a mere $10.50.

The thing is a love a good shoe. I don't what it is about shoes and shoe shopping that I am so drawn too. Perhaps it has to do with my childhood days when I would constantly sift my way through my mum's shoes and try on my favourite pairs. Or maybe in the words of Mr Louboutin it's because "Shoes transform your body language and attitude. They lift you physically and emotionally." I'd say both reasons are to blame for my shoe addiction...not that it's a bad addiction to have.

My 70 pairs consists of about 30 pairs of heels and wedges, 3 pairs of runners, 7 pairs of boots, 8 pairs of sneakers and many many pairs of flats and sandals.

Like any wardrobe there are always those few pieces that are used more than the others and this winter these are the 4 pairs that I find myself going back to. Firstly there are my lipstick black  ankle cut out boots ( which can be found here http://www.lipstikshoes.com.au/catalog/product/view/id/70183/s/metric-black/category/101/?color=Black ) they are one of my favourite takes on this season's cut out trend and go with almost everything and the gold tassels are a cheeky add on.
Next are my Sportsgirl  pointed ankle boots with a stiletto heel, once again they sport a cut out in which your toe cleavage peeks out. I love wearing these boots as to me they resemble something style icon and Vogue Fashion editor Christine Centenera would wear and they are surprisingly comfy.
Also shown are my black suede Vans which I bought at the boxing day sales last year. I love them because they are a classy version of the well known and loved lo pro Vans and can be dressed up or dressed down.
Finally are my new Sportsgirl loafers which are my staple flats at the moment. I usually don't like this cut of shoe but when I saw the classic black and white dogtooth pattern I knew I had to have them and I have never looked back.

And now my pride and Joy... My Favourite high heels and wedges all 25 of them. They range from 2 inches to 6 inches, from wedges to cut out heels and in all different colours, materials and textures. They are what make me happy and are definitely my weakness. It's a good thing that i'm only 162 cm and can walk well in heels.

Conversations with Friends that Lead to Lessons Learnt

Yesterday I found myself listening to a friend of mine tell me that I should stop worrying so much  about my future but rather learn to let go and live in the now. I can see where he was coming from but that just isn't me.

I believe that if you really work hard for something and goal for it and visualise it and put your all into it that you can achieve it. It's part of who I am and how I have been raised by my incredible parents. I am not saying that as soon as you visualise something or goal for it, that it will happen. I am not saying that because I am in Gen Y/Z that  automatically means that as soon as I think I can do something, I believe that I should get it and that no one can stop me. Which is one of the reason's I dislike generalisations against groups of people.
 
What I am trying to say is that I believe in hard work, in trying your best and proving people wrong. I believe in having a goal and a plan to strive for and work towards. That is why I am so focused and determined to get in contact with bloggers, writers, designers and editors; because my future depends on how hard I work now. It's why I get so excited when I get a reply from a designer or when I get chosen for a university scholars program. The future is exciting to me and that is what keeps me going.

Many people out there and many of my friends would completely disagree with my view on life.
People say to me that I should just go with the flow and live in the present and that I shouldn't plan out my life. That I should let myself  'let go'. But the thing is I don't have the ache to 'let go' like many of my peers do. In fact one of my favourite things to do on a Friday night is sit back and read a fashion magazine and then cut out all the ads from it that I like and stick them up on my wall. It inspires me and makes me feel like I am one step closer to the world that I hope to live in.

After having the conversation with my friend yesterday it occurred to me that I'm not like some other teenagers and that I am different to those people in the way I think and portray myself. I have learnt first hand that this causes friction between people and can hurt and end relationships. Though I have also learnt that there are people out there just like me and people that can understand who I am and what I live for. I have learnt that everyone has different values and goals and that the eyes of those people all have different perceptions of the world. That is what keeps the world running and what makes us human I guess.

Determination + Ambitions + A whole lot of e-mailing = A step closer to achieving my dreams.

In the past 3 days I have spent my free time (and some not so free time) looking for places that I could potentially gain work experience with over school holidays. 

I have sent countless e-mails to shops, designers, publishing companies, websites and magazines both in Sydney and Melbourne asking if I could get the chance to work with them over school holidays. 

I have big ambitions and dreams of being a fashion editor or editor in chief of a big fashion magazine in the future and I know that in order to get into the industry I need lots of experience and knowledge which I am very prepared to work for to achieve success. I understand the importance of working hard to get results and that young people have to start at the bottom and work their way up the food chain in the world of fashion. 

So in turn I am going to work my but off until I can get work experience because this girl has a dream and i am going to get there in one way or another.

10 pairs of shoes that I am lusting over at the moment

If you are a regular reader of my blog you know that I have a major obsession and love for shoes. In fact I think i'm addicted to high heels and honestly I am proud of that. There is just something about high heels that make me feel so damn incredible and designer heels are even more delicious because they have this certain allure about them that make you want to work for them.

Style obsession - Christine Centenera

I am seriously obsessed with Vogue Australian Fashion Editor Christine Centenera and her incredible sense of style. She is such an inspiration for me, not only because of her ability to wear the most amazing outfits but also the fact that she is the fashion editor of Vogue Australia, which one day I hope to be.  Plus she is also a celebrity stylist, street style icon and the fashion mind behind Kanye West’s fashion line. You have no idea how jealous i am of her life! 

I love her whole look from her fur coats to asymmetrical mini skirts and of course her collection of killer designer heels. She knows how to dress for her size and body shape and for a petite girl that's very hard. 

She is just so damn fabulous, if at anytime in my life I get the chance to meet her or even become like her i will be truly grateful.
